Description
The 2011 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon was produced during a challenging, but ultimately successful, “cool vintage” in Napa Valley. In contrast to hotter years, the wine from this vintage is often described as having an elegant, Old World, or Bordelaise character, with bright acidity and moderate alcohol levels.
- Estate Cabernet Sauvignon: This elegant, medium-bodied wine has aromatics of strawberry, rhubarb, and vanilla, followed by notes of lavender, bay laurel, and allspice. On the palate, ripe raspberry and earth are complemented by silky tannins and rich minerality, leading to a finish with hints of cranberry, mint, and cocoa.
- Professional reviews: Wine critics have also reviewed the 2011 vintage, noting its complexity and quality for the year. Reviewers have described it with notes of cassis, licorice pastille, bitter chocolate, and violet.
